What do Blackberry Beginners Need

I am not a Blackberry Jedi, but I do use many of the features on my BES Blackberry and I use many 3rd party applications that have really helped me day to day. When it comes to Blackberry it can get confusing sometimes on what you should or should not install on your new phone. You can read 1 Million articles devoted to Blackberry, self-discover, or you can take recommendations from friends that use their device in similar ways.

First and foremost no matter which Blackberry device (or most Windows Smartphones) you should get Viigo. For me Viigo houses my RSS feeds and keeps me up to date on all the news I care about. I could go into Viigo, search for one of my websites, and Viigo will add to my list of updates. Viigo helped me get a Blu-Ray player, 4 Blu-Ray movies, and HDMI cable, and shipping for under $200. Sometimes as busy people we can’t always read a newspaper, watch the news, or check online for news, but Viigo delivers it to you, and you can read it when you have time.

Any type of GPS navigataion. I have Sprint so TeleNav powers my location finding skills. Coming back from El Paso I was able to give a man in need directions to Pecos with confidence. if you visit their website they are offering a 30 day trial. If you have Verizon, VZNavigator is great. Another option is Google Maps, it is free and it is very helpful if you do not have the other options.

My built in applications I love are Blackberry Messenger, which allows you to Instant Message other Blackberry users as well as send pictures and voice notes. The Calendar and MemoPad are a life saver for me when an appointment comes up, or I have to jot something down and do not have anything else handy. Last, but not least the Password Safe is a great thing to have. Many of us have at least ten different passwords we have to remember for different things, with this you remember one password, and the rest are at your fingertips.

So those are great things to get started. For most questions I refer to Crackberry’s Forums which have a slew of questions and answers as well as tips and tricks. The Blackberry Owner’s Lounge is a good resource for Blackberry information too. As always if you have any questions contact us.

Common Blackberry Issues

.teFor me the Blackberry is about as close to perfect as you can get. I have had other phones, and I am not knocking “dumb” phones because they did serve me well. A Blackberry, in my case the 8830, does most things I want a device to do. It makes my calls, has my e-mails, calendar, music, videos, pictures, web-browsing, and so on.

With all the great things they do and they have there are a few minor issues that have some fairly simple fixes. I had something called Memory Leak that prevented me from receiving new text messages. Something happens where your phones internal memory starts dwindling. The easiest way I have fixed it is deleting some old text messages, make sure I do not have 100 applications running, and take the battery out and put it back in. If you are not a fan of taking your battery out, you can press ALT, THE Right SHIFT Key, and DELETE. I do it twice in a row, so I can be rebooted.

The good folks at Crackberry.com put together a great list on some other common issues and easy fixes. Check it out, if you have any questions or need any other human help, contact us.

Savings for mobile.

I recently read on Crackberry that mobile users pay an average of 15.9% tax on their cell phone bills. This is a super huge amount. As a retailer we want to take care of our customers and give them a close approximation for their bill, but with mobile taxes rising so much it is hard to do. We know every penny counts now and we would like to help you save money.

Sometimes we get started on a plan that is not the best for us and we stay with it for years because we do not know of any better options. It is so hard to go to your carriers website and wade through the pages and pages of information you do not need to find what you need. Not only that, but there are other things that can save you money based on your mobile habits. Let us take a look at your bill, tell us your habits and let us show you an immediate savings! If you call 411, save your money and call 1-800-GOOG-411. There are so many ways to save out there its crazy.

We save companies thousands, that is what we pride ourselves in. We also pride ourselves in taking care of our customers like nobody else and saving our customers money. If you have any questions contact us, or if you are in the area visit one of our stores and let us help you out.

Documents To Go…Coming Soon to BlackBerry!!!

I just got an email from our friend Andy Mercier at DataViz, Inc., he informed me that he just tried the Beta version on Documents To Go on his BlackBerry and loved it.  For those not familiar with Documents To Go, imagine being able to open, edit and save a Word, Excel or PowerPoint presentation right from your BlackBerry device?  Well, with Documents To Go, you can!  The latest version of BlackBerry OS 4.5 will include DocsToGo, however, for those using a BES, you will need to be running version 4.1.5 before you can take advantage of the software.  Unfortunately for all of you BlackBerry OS 4.2+ users, you will have to wait to download your copy of Documents To Go until your carrier offers the update to your phone.  At any rate, this is the ONLY drawback that BlackBerry users have been missing and with Documents To Go, we will be able to have our cake AND eat it too.
