MySpace Video

MySpace has really been getting on top of their game lately. Maybe it is because they lost their number one spot to Facebook, or maybe they want to be a truly great utility. A few months ago MySpace launched their Mobile website mobile.myspace.com, which is optimized for viewing on your mobile phone’s screen.

Well, for us Blackberry fans they launched the Blackberry application which is a great way to keep in touch. It is extremely similar to the Facebook app, but it is handy either way. Now MySpace is going to start offering a video service for mobile. According to Pinstack the video service will go to the Blackberry Bold, Palm Centro, Motorola Q9, LG Voyager, Nokia N95, and the Samsung Instinct.

It will be a ad based program, but I will watch or read a fair amount of advertising to get a really helpful tool for my phone. I wish other makers would follow suit and create ad based applications. So hopefully this works as well as I hope. If you have any questions, let us know!

MySpace for Blackberry

Recently I downloaded the MySpace application for Blackberry. I was a little worried at first because I could not download for 2 days ( I am assuming their servers were loaded to the gills). I for one like MySpace, it is a good place to keep in touch with friends and this application is a good app to follow in Facebook’s footsteps.

I downloaded the app from http://www.blackberry.com/email/myspace. I think you can also download it from the m.myspace.com. The application downloaded okay once I was able to get through and it does not seem like this early version has many glitches.

If you are used to MySpace mobile this may be a little different. The screen is broken up into your Home tab, which includes your status and recent status updates from your friends. My Inbox which has all of your incoming messages. My Friend Requests, My Comments, My Friends, and My Pictures. The application works well and has an easy to navigate interface. So if you have a MySpace account and a Blackberry, this is a must have!

Top Mobile Sites

I was looking at Pinstack’s RSS feeds on my Viigo and I noticed they had the top 10 mobile sites. I will list them for you as they are listed on their website.

  1. www.google.com
  2. www.myspace.com
  3. www.facebook.com
  4. www.wikipedia.org
  5. www.yahoo.com
  6. www.nytimes.com
  7. www.gamejump.com
  8. www.youtube.com
  9. www.accuweather.com
  10. http://myopera.com

So a few of the websites kind of strike me as a given like Google. On countless occasions I have pulled out my phone and “Googled” something to prove I was right, or even to find out a piece of information that I just could not remember. It has settled many bets and I have a feeling it will continue to do that.

There are sites on there like Wikipedia that would help find good information as well (Citation Needed), and things like Accuweather which I never really thought to look at. Youtube, Myspace, and Facebook are all great websites. Myspace and Facebook are really great and some phones even have Mobile App versions of those websites.

So all in all it is a good list to look at, and it is cool to know what other people on the mobile web are looking at. So now I know where to settle my bets, find out the weather, read good news, and play some cool games for free. As always, any questions contact us.

Virgin Mobile buys Helio.

If you all have not heard the news yet Virgin Mobile is buying Helio. Many people have not heard about Helio, maybe this will sound familiar, “Don’t call it a phone.” Helio is actually a really great product with many innovative features they give to their customers. They have a really great Myspace and Youtube application built into their Helio Oceans.

The purchase is really not going to change what most Helions are accustomed to. I actually think the purchase is a really good thing and it will combine the older teen/young adult demographic. Virgin Mobile is a great pre-paid service and Helio is a great contract service. From what I have read Helio will be kept as Virgin’s “Top Tier” product.

So keep an eye open. If you want a Helio phone do not be afraid to still buy one. I really think this will help make both companies stronger and since they both run off Sprint towers there will not be much of a change in their infrastructure. Remember Sprint has the largest mobile broadband network in the United States. So buy a Sprint Blackberry for yourself and get your kids set up on Helio!
